Portland's Teddy Bear Hunt is here!

Hi Friends!

We’ve all suddenly found ourselves with lots of home time and with little ones, well that can be tough (for the whole family). That’s why I thought it’d be fun to start the Teddy Bear Hunt in Portland.

Not a new concept, but new to Portland, the Teddy Bear Hunt is inspired by a children’s book called, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen. The “hunt” for bears (the soft and unthreatening kind) is aimed at little ones stuck in the house during COVID-19. The idea is for kids to get out and about safely in their neighborhoods and to have some fun in the process - while practicing responsible social distancing.

Ready to hunt? Here’s how to join the movement!

  • Step 1: Place a stuffed teddy bear in a visible part of your house (a windowsill, your front porch, your roof, whatever is most noticeable!)

  • Step 2: Get out and walk around your neighborhood! Can you spot a bear? When you see one, wave at it, smile, take a picture, and you never know, the bear may wave back.

  • Step 3: Repeat until you find all the bears in your neighborhood. And keep hunting because you never know, new bears may appear in unlikely places.
